regarding Chapter 12: Freeway Weaving Segments

Each time we code a two sided weave, and quote in the volumes correctly, an error dialog box pops up when we try to run the analysis stating "error: division by zero." How do we fix this error, and correctly code our two-sided weave?

Obviously, one is using HCS to get a division by zero error message. I believe McTrans is responsible for providing support for HCS. I suggest you do the problem manually using the methodology specified in HCM 2010 Weave Segment chapter. If you still find that you are getting an equation with division by zero, please post your input to the forum so we can check it.

We have calculated the numbers necessary for the weave dialog box and are coming out with the same numbers as being generated by the program. We have coded as a two-sided weave, entered the volumes, lane configs, speeds, and other required information. It is unknown where the division by zero is occurring.

Coding this information (assuming 100 for the ramp-to-ramp flow and 1.00 for the PHF) into the HCS 2010 Weaving module, a v/c ratio of 1.25 is generated for a result of LOS F. The error you reference is coming from the Facilities module, so submitting your data file to McTrans would allow the developer to look into this for you.
