How to Correctly Model Exhibit 13-15(b)

I am trying to model a 2-Lane Freeway facility with a 2-Lane Diverge Ramp similar to the bottom scenario shown in Exhibit 13-15 where there is only 1 decel. lane and the outermost freeway lane can either continue on to the next basic segment or exit to the innermost ramp lane. In HCS software, the program prompts me for both Ld1 and Ld2 in an attempt to calculate Ld(eff). Based on Exhibit 13-15 though, there should only Ld for this scenario. Will inputting a length of X' for Ld2 and a length of 0' for Ld1 correctly model this scenario? |

Yes, since there is only one deceleration lane with no LD1 and LD2, LD2 becomes LD, McTrans plans to provide an "Optional Lane" checkbox to make this more intuitive. |
